Sudarshan Thapa’s directorial venture ‘Rawayan’ is running all over Nepal from last Friday targeting Teej Festival. Movie features Paul Shah in double role, Pooja Sharma, Priyanka Karki in lead role. Movie portrays the love story of a couple blended with high octane actions and drama. After two days of the release, let’s have a quick business review of the movie Rawayan from Nepal territory.
Pooja Sharma has joined Sudarshan Thapa for producing this movie and this is first time Pooja Sharma is coming with her own production house from Rawayan. Pooja had worked on this script since long time and she wanted to do this movie with Anmol Kc. After director Sudarshan Thapa and Anmol Kc had a conflict, Paul Shah was roped in for the movie. Rawayan is said to be one of the most costliest movie made by Sudarshan Thapa and Pooja Sharma.
Rawayan has featured high octane action sequences as well as the lead actor Paul Shah is seen in double role. Paul Shah fighting with Paul Shah is one of the most exciting part of the movie. Rawayan had roped various Indian’s crew to make the movie looks good. From script writer to musician, Sudarshan Thapa has involved Indian crew in the movie to make the movie standard. And to speak frankly, movie looks great in technical aspects.
Rawayan Box Office Collection
Rawayan was expected to do bumper opening at box office as it had various positive aspects but the movie failed to meet the expectations. Paul Shah and Pooja Sharma’s pairing, Teej Festival’s holiday on opening day, Sudarshan Thapa’s brand value were the strong aspects for bumper opening but movie failed to reach the expectation of distributors. Rawayan did above average opening as movie has got mixed reviews from critics and audience.
If we observe the trend of Nepali film industry, the makers reveals the first day collections especially when the movie has such a big stars. But Rawayan team hasn’t yet revealed the collection of first two days as it has not meet the expectations. Big budget movie, big star casts movie couldn’t do charming business but the producers are satisfied with the business. As per producers, movie will recover its investment from digital and international rights. But audience are not pleased with Pooja Sharma and Sudarshan Thapa’s movie. Why ? Rawayan Business Review
Rawayan is running with good number of screens all over Nepal but the expectation from this team was big which failed. According to the insiders, Rawayan concept, story and presentation is praiseworthy. Sudarshan Thapa and Pooja Sharma has took risk of investing huge money to make the movie standard. Technically movie is good but the actors couldn’t justify the role according to the flow of story. Especially Paul Shah’s role was not hugely appreciated. The lead actor Paul Shah looked very young for that character is the common answer of the critics and audiences.
One of the filmmaker has spoke with Fursadpost and said, “Paul Shah is popular so Sudarshan Thapa roped him but instead of Paul Shah if Aaryan Sigdel was there in his character then he could have justified that role. The high octane action scene doesn’t suits Paul Shah as he looks too young for that. Macho man was needed for the script.”
Infact this comment was flooded during the trailer release of Rawayan too. Rawayan’s another weak point was its music. Movie couldn’t create hype from its music as Pooja Sharma and Sudarshan Thapa’s failed to meet their earlier benchmark on bringing chartbusters.
