Rabi Lamichhane is the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). This party became popular in a short time because it talked about change, youth, and fighting corruption. Many young people supported it and gave votes in the last election. But now, the party is facing a big problem.
Balendra Shah also known as Balen Shah, who is the mayor of Kathmandu, is trying to take control of this party. People are saying that he wants to remove Rabi Lamichhane from the leadership. Instead of Rabi, Balen Shah wants to make Kulman Ghising the chairman of the party. Kulman Ghising is very famous for his work in the electricity sector of Nepal, and many people wants him to come to politics. Balen thinks if Kulman becomes the chairman, the party will become stronger.
At the same time, Rabi Lamichhane is in prison because of some legal cases. This situation has made the party weak, and Balen Shah is trying to use this chance. Many people are now watching what will happen inside the party. Some supporters of Rabi are not happy, but some are also thinking that new leadership can bring more power in the coming election.
The government of Sushila Karki has already announced the upcoming election. In this election, Balen Shah wants to participate by using Rabi’s party name. He believes if he controls the party, he can take part strongly in the election and maybe win more seats. If Kulman Ghising becomes chairman, the party may get even more support from the public.
Now the question is, will Rabi Lamichhane remain the leader of his party, or will Balen Shah and Kulman Ghising take the control? The answer will be seen in the coming days. People are waiting and watching what will happen in Nepali politics.
Director and actor Nischal Basnet, who is very close to Balen Shah, has posted a status on his social media to clarify that Balen is not going to use the party and also asked the youths not to believe it, as Balen Shah is always working for the development of the nation. According to Nischal Basnet, Balen is not in the mood for compromising on such things.
Also Rabi Lamichhane’s nearest colleague, Deepak Bohora, has also clarified that no such decision has been made inside the party. Deepak Bohora said, “We have been in talks with Balen Shah and Kulman Ghising since the early stages of party formation. We have various meetings, but nothing has been finalized as the news is spreading. Rabi Lamichhane is not being replaced right now.”
