Every day, hundreds of Nepali citizens fly abroad for either educational purposes or for foreign employment. And most of them are flying outside the nation due to the situation in Nepal. Either they don’t see a future in Nepal or they don’t get employment opportunities in Nepal, due to which hundreds of youths are going abroad every day.
The current scenario in Nepal is due to our leaders, who have been leading the nation for a few decades. Our senior leaders are always focused on power and position rather than developing the nation. From the Nepali Congress to the UML, none of the politicians are focused on stopping youths from migrating abroad. And one of the major reasons behind this is that our politicians are not aware of the situation in Nepal.
Most of our politicians’ children are either abroad or, if they are in Nepal, are misusing the political power of their parents to earn money. And our politicians are using their power to clean up the image of their children rather than create employment opportunities for youth. This is the bitter truth of our country in the present scenario. And I am presenting you with information about a minister, which will make you more clear.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayan Prakash Saud (NP Saud) is an elected member of parliament. NP Saud is from the Nepali Congress, and he is a very trustworthy person for former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. NP Saud’s daughter is studying at one of the most expensive schools in Nepal. His daughter is studying at The British School Kathmandu, which is located in Lalitpur. The British School Kathmandu is open to foreigners, and they give first priority to foreigners rather than Nepalis. And our minister has given admission to his daughter to such a school rather than choosing one that is concerned for Nepali students.
Let’s know in detail about the school where our own minister, NP Saud’s daughter, studies. (We are not disclosing her name or class.) The British School Kathmandu gives first priority to foreigners, especially British passport holders. If the seat is vacant, then they give admission to Nepali students if they can afford to pay in pounds. Yes, you read it right. The school only accepts pounds. And for Nepali students to study at The British School, they need to take a No Objection Letter for admission. Now let’s know how much NP Saud pays for his daughter’s school fee.
According to the school’s fee structure, every student has to pay in pounds, and if anyone doesn’t have access to foreign currency, they have to consult with the school management team. That means NP Saud has to manage foreign currency to pay the daughter’s fee. Our minister’s daughter is studying at a school where they don’t accept Nepali currency. They have clearly mentioned on the school’s website that they prefer foreign currency.
And now let’s talk about the fee structure of the school. NP Saud had to pay at least NPR 10 lakh for admission. This is the minimum amount that every student has to pay during admissions. After that, NP Saud has to pay at least NPR 1 lakh plus per month as a tuition fee for his daughter’s education. That means he has to pay around Rs 12 lakh plus per year as a tuition fee. The big question arises: how will NP Saud earn as our minister’s salary and allowances can’t afford such a big school? Maybe he has parental property.
Minister NP Saud’s wife, Jyotsna Saud, has been actively involved in various organizations for a long time. Maybe his wife’s earnings and their parental properties can afford them such a luxurious lifestyle. Let’s assume that and believe in that as well. But our major question is, if our ministers and leaders don’t have faith in our Nepali schools, how can they understand the problems of the citizens? If our ministers don’t prefer to choose schools and hospitals that are made for Nepalis, then how can the youth trust them and stay in Nepal?
We have presented Minister NP Saud’s story in this post, but he is only one of the representative characters. Most of the politicians don’t prefer to choose Nepali schools or hospitals, which shows that our leaders are not happy with our infrastructure. Then how can we expect our youths to stay in Nepal? How can youths have faith in the future and stay in Nepal? This is a big question that needs to be answered by our politicians.
