Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of Nepal, Rabi Lamichhane, has posted a status on his social media where he has given an open challenge to Nepali Congress leaders to participate in a debate to reveal the truth about the recent controversies. Rabi Lamichhane has asked Nepali Congress leaders to organize a live debate in which he will participate and prove himself not guilty in the cooperative fraud case.
Victims of fraud at Pokhara-based Surya Darshan Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited have filed a complaint against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane at the District Police Office, Kaski. This complaint was filed a couple of months ago. But this case was not taken into consideration by the police nor the court, as Rabi Lamichhane’s direct involvement in this case was not found strongly.
And now taking this complaint into consideration, the Nepali Congress party has created a scene at Parliament after Rabi Lamichhane became Home Minister. Nepali Congress leaders are asking the Prime Minister to start an investigation against Rabi Lamichhane on the cooperative fraud case and provide justice to the victims. The Nepali Congress has given an ultimatum that if an investigation is not done, they won’t allow the Parliament to run smoothly.
Nepali Congress leaders have not allowed Minister Rabi Lamichhane to speak at Parliament. Rabi Lamichhane has been asking for around ten minutes to speak at Parliament and give an answer to all the queries of the Nepali Congress regarding the cooperative fraud case, but Nepali Congress leaders were not ready to give Lamichhane the opportunity to speak at Parliament. After this scenario, Rabi Lamichhane took to social media to give an open challenge to Nepali Congress leaders to organize a live debate program where he would clarify himself. Minister Lamichhane also gave a challenge to Nepali Congress leaders to prove him guilty in this case at a live debate program and end this case.
Rabi Lamichhane, on his status, mentions Gagan Kumar Thapa’s constituency, Kathmandu 4, and asks to organize the debate program in this area. The protest against Rabi Lamichhane at Parliament is led by Gagan Thapa informally. Rabi Lamichhane, without mentioning Thapa’s name, asks to organize a debate on this particular area and make everything clear in a live debate. Rabi Lamichhane also mentions that if they can prove him guilty in the cooperative fraud case, then he is ready to quit politics too.

The Nepali Congress was asking the Prime Minister to start an investigation against Rabi Lamichhane, but Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ came to Parliament and gave a straight answer: “There is no point of investigation as Rabi Lamichhane is not seen guilty till date.”. After the Prime Minister’s straight-forward answer, Nepali Congress leaders were not pleased. They were putting pressure on Parliament since Rabi Lamichhane was appointed as the Home Minister of Nepal.
Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has also said why the Nepali Congress is doing such cheap politics. Rabi Lamichhane wants the Nepali Congress to take action legally and logically rather than doing cheap politics and misguiding Nepali citizens. Rabi Lamichhane wants to clarify himself, as he is not involved in the cooperative fraud case, and how the Nepali Congress leader is misguiding citizens and Parliament.

Rabi Lamichhane also reminds us that when the Nepali Congress was in government, why didn’t they show interest in investigating this case? Minister Lamichhane says, “When the Nepali Congress was in government, who stopped them from investigating me? Did I ask them not to investigate? And now, when they are out of government and I become Minister, they want an investigation without any evidence.”
